Most commonly used for steel and cast-iron materials, this surface modification process has applications across industries ranging from tooling and manufacturing to heavy industry and transportation (among others).
This process is embraced for its financially-driven benefits, including extending the life of items and ensuring a higher level of wear resistance. Importantly, a well-defined energy source laser can treat specific areas without causing thermal damage to the remainder of a part, and in many cases, even areas that are difficult to reach with conventional heat sources are receptive to Laser Heat Treatment. The additional capabilities and benefits of the technology have greatly widened the expanse of possible applications.
